Tillamook Country Smoker
Based in Tillamook Oregon, Tillamook Country Smoker makes the best beef jerky on the market. It competes against several multinational conglomerates that advertise their inferior products more heavily. How can a local family business compete in a multi-billion dollar and growing category dominated by huge players?
The Smoker worked with Pragma to develop a marketing strategy that highlights the heritage and quality of the company’s recipes and products. Pragma helped build a world-class marketing team, and spearheaded an effort to tell the brand story in a new way. We launched a campaign in Texas, where people are serious about their smoked meats. The company put a smoke truck on the road to sample product directly to consumers, and build the brand the right way, from the grass roots up.
It's early in the campaign, but the Facebook community has grown by 6X, and people in Texas are talking about the best jerky they’ve ever had.

Pragma Group developed multiple growth strategies, and tested each of them against the cultural and financial requirements of the business. Looking at every growth strategy known to restaurants, ultimately it was decided to split the company in two.
